Tenori-on

Posted May 15th, 2009 at 12:00 pm by Kevin Yeoh

Blip blip blip! That’s the noise you’d be getting by resembling music from the world’s newest musical instrument, the Tenori-on.

Tenori-on translates ‘sound on your palm’ was designed by Japanese artist Toshio Iwai and built by Yamaha. It sounds better than it reads. Artists like Peter Gabriel and Björk have both got hold of this machine. Tenori-On is double-sided: both faces look identical, but one is played by the performer, while the other provides a miniature light show for the audience. Wicked! Watch the demonstration below.
