Califone: All My Friends Are Funeral Singers (Dead Oceans)

Honing their sound over the last 6 albums and finally putting to rest the spirit of previous band Red Red Meat, frontman Tim Rutili has conjured up this enticing experimental folk album that is also the soundtrack to the film of the same name. Brush the morbid title aside, All My Friends… is a warm earthly excursion into the realm of Chicago’s folk rocking finest. Though the overall feeling of the album is self-regret, you can’t deny the welcoming allure that songs like ‘Funeral Singers’ and ‘Evidence’ give.
